Knowing You

Knowing you was like diving into quicksand

or skydiving without a parachute.

Maybe waking up a grizzly bear.

Other times it felt like bathing in acid

or bungee jumping without a permit.

But knowing you too was like swimming through space

and getting your daily dose of coffee.

It felt like eating your favorite apple pie,

or waking up from a long nap.

But most of all, it felt like being in a lucid dream -

one that’s unreal, but felt real all at the same time.
